March Ahead

Walking ahead on the path of life,
She came across a fork in the road,
Not knowing what lay in store,
She took the one less trodden

As she walked on and on,
She passed and tread many a thorn,
But she had known all along,
She would have to endure dissent and scorn.

But never ever did she falter,
In making her choices,
Though her voice was often drowned,
In the sea of scoffing voices.

She was told “Do this”, “Don’t do that”,
“This is right” and “You’re wrong”.
But never did she mind,
The insults of the throng.

For the goal was set, the mind made,
And she listened to her heart,
And walked steadily on and on,
‘Cause she’d got the right start.

Time rolled by, she’d reached her goal,
Now she sat in retrospection, alone,
Thinking about the road she’d chosen,
About whatever she had done.

She guessed, and was right too,
Those who take on life’s challenges,
Leave footprints in the sands of time,
And only them fate encourages.

The Last Season

(i'd written this for one of ma projects on Senior Citizens)

Their hair aren’t sun-dried,
Its experience by measure.
And they have laughed and cried
For their children’s pleasure.

Agreed, we are the future,
But don’t forget they made us
So in the autumn of their lives,

Let’s make it count by love, care and trust.

Rendezvous with the Sea

I drifted along in the stormy sea,
Like clouds in the sky on a windy day,
The silent waves crept up unnoticed,
And swept me into the vast bay.

My thoughts turned towards the dark night,
Which surrounded me from all sides,
In the emptiness of the ocean wide ,
And the rumbling of the tides.

As the sun rose, the waves grew higher,
They were so high, they touched the sky.
There was no one to help me out,
Nor did my Father hear my cry.

Then all at once I saw a shore,
The haven of an enormous island.
Never in my life had I been so happy,
To see a piece of barren land.

The current lifted me above the crest,
And the welcoming shore I reached.
A last, last glance at the sea behind me,
As I fell into the deep slumber of those fatigued.

This one is really suits ma situation.....by Bhupen Hazarika

My Life Is A Question....

My life is a question……
And no one knows the answer
Who am I?
Was I born to change the world?
To purge it of all evils,
To make man love man,
No wars, no swords
Only words of kindness, love, peace.
Or m I just another soul,
One of the millions in the rat-race
For survival, fame, power?
Fated to live forever,
In the fear of failure, loss, death?
What will I do on this holy earth?
What is my job?
Where am I going?
My life is a question……
And no one knows the answer.
